YouTube: One of the Biggest Social Media Platforms of Our Generation

YouTube was first introduced to the public back in 2005. At this time, technology truly began to thrive. With the creation of more advanced cellular devices, computers and electronics in general, new social media platforms like YouTube became extremely popular among younger generations. YouTube attracted millions of users in its prime due to the fact that it has a wide range of video content available. To entice more individuals to the platform, YouTube videos can consist of short clips to music videos, documentaries, movie trailers, films, audio recordings, educational videos, corporate videos, and far more. Each one of these categories helped YouTube become one of the most well-utilized social media platforms to this day with over 2 billion monthly active users watching over 5 billion videos on the platform every single day.

As someone who grew up with YouTube and has watched it evolve throughout the past two decades, I am thrilled to see that the younger generations are continuing to use the platform and are not letting it become irrelevant. As many children do today, I used the app back when I was younger because it had a video for nearly anything that caught your interest. I primarily watched some of my favorite artists' music videos on YouTube. Since technology has become more advanced over the past twenty years, the platform began to be utilized for newer purposes such as vlogging, streaming, get ready with me's (GRWM) and product advertising. These helped pave the way for influencers and companies to build upon their own reputation and platform.

Looking into the future, I believe YouTube will continue to be used by future generations as long as the platform adapts to new trends and engages viewers. With its broad scope of content, there is sure to be content that interests just about anyone.
