Earth Day: It's Not Just A Single Day We Should Care About

As many of you know, yesterday was Earth Day. Every year, this day serves as a reminder to treat our planet with kindness. However, it shouldn't just be a singular day we strive to better our planet; it should be every day.

Whether you grew up in a small or big city, I'm sure you're well aware of how human actions impact the environment. From pollution to burning fossil fuels to deforestation, we are causing more destruction to our planet than it can handle. In fact, there is a clock in New York City that counts down how long we have left until the effects on the Earth regarding climate change are irreversible. Now, as we are growing to become a more industrialized society with factories and machinery, it's imperative that we make decisions in our everyday life that will not in any form degrade the environment. A few ways that we can do so are by limiting the purchase of processed foods and buying organic foods, recycling materials, and refraining from using heavy machinery that releases toxins into the environment. Taking these precautions will not only positively affect the environment in the future, but also wildlife and mankind.

As we continue to progress and evolve as a society, it is important that we take into consideration how the decisions and actions we make will affect the planet. Although we make think our own individual actions aren't substantial enough to make an impact when there are over 7 billion others on Earth, this is entirely false. Every small act we do leads to a greater result, which in most cases is detrimental to the environment. If we each make more environmentally safe decisions, we can help create a sustainable planet for future generations to live a contented life.

  1. The clock in New York City has always terrified me. It hurts my heart so much that people do not fear the actions they make. Thank you for bringing awareness to the fact that we need to take action every day.

  2. I 100% agree that the attention to the planet should take place everyday and not just on Earth Day. It's so easy to take the beauty of nature for granted. I never knew that New York City had a clock focused on the impact we have on the environment. To know that we're aware of the damage we're causing and not taking action is heartbreaking.

  3. Very well written and I agree with everything you have stated here. As habitants of this beautiful world we need to relearn how to take care of it just as we take care of ourselves. We were only gifted with this one earth and it is our duty to properly care for it as it cares for us. The planet gives us food and air to breath and we have done more harm to it than good and it is time we stand up and take charge to make a change.
