Social Sisters: The New Coming of Age Podcast
This week in my Principles of Social Media course, I was assigned to create a podcast about social media. The requirements for this project were quite simple: create a five to ten-minute podcast with a partner or solo by interviewing someone who appears to excel at making content for social media platforms.
To complete this assignment, I worked alongside one of my greatest friends, Evie. Evie manages a freelance photography business, ELM Photography, while I'm currently building up my fitness account, workout_withallayna. Our good friend, Anna Kate Jackson, also manages her own business, _annakatecreates, a photography and art enterprise. Therefore, we decided to interview her to learn about her experience with developing her own brand.
During our interview with Anna Kate, we discussed various topics regarding creating her brand, such as her typical social media presence/routine, challenges she's faced, and future goals that she has for her business, but the most interesting fact to me was what platform she enjoyed the most. Anna Kate said that she prefers to make content on TikTok rather than other platforms like Instagram because TikTok allows her content to be placed on numerous accounts' feeds, which gives the opportunity for potential clients to discover her work that they would not have otherwise on other platforms. She also talked about how so many people make content but have no intentions behind it. Anna Kate discussed that it is so easy to just post something online but to truly get your business flourishing, you need to have a purpose behind what you create. She stated that people are more drawn to content that is simple but is also meaningful and tells a story. Out of all we discussed during the interview, I found this bit of advice the most impactful to me personally. I often tend to overthink way too much when it comes to creating content for my fitness account, so by taking a step back and looking at it as just conveying a story to my audience, I'll hopefully be able to continue to grow my account.
Looking forward, I am excited to see what's in store for my fitness platform. As social media continues to grow and reach more people, I am hoping to not only attract more people to my platform, but I also hope to partner with a business or influencer to promote my page.

I had so much fun working on this podcast with you! I think it was cool for the three of us to come together and discuss how we use social media for professional work.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE YOU ALL!! Great job at collaborating :)
ReplyDeleteHey Allayna!
ReplyDeleteFirst off I want to say that I absolutely love your blog, it is literally adorable. I love the way it is setup and decorated, I love everything about it and I just wanted to let you know that. I also wanted to say that I love the questions you asked for your interview. You made sure to ask questions that wee tailored to her and the fact that she has a business and how social media has affected that. I agree with Anna Kate, it is so easy to post something just because without actually having a reason for posting it. I totally agree that as an audience member I enjoy watching content of real, genuine people that are creating something meaningful and authentic.
This isn't relevant to this blog but I wanted to let you know that I also love fitness and I respect that you are trying to use it to create a name for yourself! Good luck and I wish you the best on that journey!
Love this post and I can't wait to read more about your fitness life soon!
